Redecorate Your Bathroom On a Budget

We like our apartment to be an extension of ourselves, to make an impact. Most of the times, the living room is the first to get a make over. We also pay extra attention to our bedroom, even our kitchen. But when it comes to the bathroom, we tend to pay less attention to it. We see it as a utilitarian space, a place of little importance. That's not necessarily true. We always start the day there, and the last, before we go to bed. It should be a relaxing, calming place, seeing that we spend a bit of our time in it. We'll tell you just how you can make it look fabulous without breaking the bank. Here are a few helpful tips that will make your bathroom look right out of a decorating magazine.
Store all the knick knacks. Having all our cosmetics near the sink or on cabinets, might be very helpful and save is the trouble of looking for them in shelves. But all these cosmetics and kick knacks make the bathroom look messy. Get some nice storage boxes or trunks. Not only can they add an unexpected design element to your room, but they help you be organized and tidy. Store all the cosmetics and unnecessary knick knacks in trunks and storage boxes, and your bathroom will look a lot spacious and tidy.
Decorate the mirror. It's a pity not to take advantage of such a focal point in the bathroom: the big mirror. Depending on weather the mirror has a frame or not, you can choose any type of decorating material. If you want to feel like a star, you can glue some crystals to the mirror edges, and get a very sophisticated look. For a more formal look, simulate a real wood frame by adding lumber. For a more children friendly bathroom, get some Hello Kitty stickers, or even let your draw some flowers on the edges of the mirror . There's no limit to what you can decorate the mirror with, you just need to be creative.
Redo your cabinets. Give your cabinets a totally new look, and you're set for the next 2,3 years.As for the mirror decoration, renewing the cabinets is easy if you have some good ideas and spare time. You can paint them black for a more polished, sophisticated look. If you're planning on giving your bathroom a country look, just use some white paint and a sponge, and get that used look. Be bold and use more colors, paint some cabinet doors black, others white, or any other color combination you like. The only thing you have to do is to clean the cabinets well before painting, use a special primer (BIN would be good ).
Now that you are finished with the more difficult tasks, you can get to the easy and more pleasant part of the redecoration: the last touch-ups. Choose small decorations, but with an impact. Candles of any color are always a good choice. Just imagine getting home after a long day of work and getting into a hot bath and relax by candle light. Shells are also a nice touch, if you want to achieve that nautical feel and bring back the sea in your house. To get a more personal touch, add some pictures in dollar store frames. Maybe a nice getaway place you'd like to see while you relax in the bathtub. Change the shower curtain to a more trendy one, or get some plants. Anything you'd like and feel will relax you it's welcome. Enjoy!
